2017 IPES Conference
November 17-18 at The University of Texas at Austin
We are pleased to announce that registration for the 2017 IPES conference, hosted by The University of Texas at Austin, is now open at the new IPES website. Registration will remain open until Monday, October 30th. The conference fee is $100 for faculty and $25 for graduate students. UT Austin faculty and students do not have to pay, but still need to register. Scholars will need to log into their IPES account in order to register for the conference. If the account has not been used in a long period of time or there is difficulty logging in, please reset your password once and log in again. The 2017 IPES program is now online .
The 2017 meeting will be held November 17 and 18. It will be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin Department of Government. Presenters are also strongly encouraged to attend the entire meeting. All conference sessions will take place at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, at University of Texas at Austin. Our local hosts are Professors Nate Jensen and Rachel Wellhausen. Breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday of the conference will be provided, as well as a dinner for all participants on Friday evening. The Friday evening dinner and reception will take place at the Blanton Museum of Art, which is a short walk from the hotel. Please plan to attend these meals as they are an important opportunity for networking within the conference. There also will be an optional dinner on Saturday night, at Coopers’s BBQ.
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) serves the area. The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center is offering a rate of $185/night to IPES conference participants. This rate is available only through October 17, 2017, using the following link: https://aws.passkey.com/go/UTPOLI1117. For booking by phone rather than on line, call 1-877-744-8822 and use reference code UTINTP117.
We are excited to announce IPES 2017 will include an Editors Roundtable. Editors from IO, CPS, ISQ, RIO, RIPE, and Economics and Politics have confirmed their attendance. The Roundtable will be chaired by Layna Mosley, who organized the event together with our local hosts at UT Austin. At the event, Editors will discuss publishing opportunities for C/IPE research in their journals. They will also discuss the review and editorial process. Questions from the audience will be invited. The Steering Committee hopes this event will be a good opportunity for IPES attendees to get a sense of the journal publishing options, and the review and editorial process, for IPE-related work.
Finally, we are delighted to present the 2016 David A. Lake Award for Best Paper to Eric Arias (New York University) for his paper, "Patronage by Credit: International Sources of Patronage Politics" at this year's conference. Leo Baccini (McGill University), Manfred Elsig (World Trade Institute), and Andreas Dür (University of Salzburg) will also be awarded our initial prize for the Best New Dataset for The Design of Trade Agreements (DESTA).
